Last weekend I found myself at a conference held in St. Moritz, in one of the most prestigious hotels in Switzerland. Given Switzerland’s reputation for high quality goods and services, I was excited to taste the coffee. My first morning was unfortunately a considerable delusion as we were in a separate arm of the hotel and only had access to coffee prepared by a cheap automatic coffee machine. As you can imagine, it was not worth drinking.
Later on in the morning we managed to escape to the main hotel bar to order a proper cappuccino prepared by the barista, using a beautiful Faema machine. Sadly, the machine could not make up for the poor quality Cerutti coffee. When my colleague complained about the bland and watery coffee to the barista, she agreed that the coffee was poor – despite the CHF 9 price tag for one cappuccino!!
So far, the most expensive cappuccino I have seen in Switzerland (and not even 100% arabica) 😱
